PEI-ACIC breakfast

Friday 3rd September 2010 11:57

You are invited to the first PEI-ACIC breakfast of the season Tuesday, September 14th 8:30 a.m. The Canadian Red Cross Society, 62 Prince Street, Charlottetown

The breakfast will be a chance for members to share news about current projects, and to hear a thought-provoking presentation about Haiti by Marie Burge of Cooper Institute,"Foxes in Charge of the Henhouse ". In an editorial series published earlier this year in The Charlottetown Guardian and in french in La Voix Acadienne, Marie wrote:
"The ultimate tragedy in Haiti is not the earthquake of January 12, 2010. There are a number of historical tragedies which continue to contribute to the vulnerability of the Haitian people. The disrespectful and abusive international interventions over the centuries have kept Haiti in a state of economic and social poverty."

Rena Kulczycki, Membership & Communications Assistant for ACIC will join us for the breakfast, and with
Leo Cheverie, the Prince Edward Island representative on the ACIC board, will bring us up to date on what ACIC has planned for the remainder of 2010-11.
